Packard – Winged

Joe Packard took a blow to his season and West Augusta’s premiership plans on Saturday at Port Pirie, when he has reinjured a fracture to his collarbone, against the Lions.  Packard received a strong ‘hip n shoulder’ from a Lions big man and immediately felt the impact in his shoulder. He attempted to shrug the pain off but soon realised the extent of damaged he had received. Joe was assisted off the oval and transferred immediately to Port Pirie Hospital.

Packard, who is still eligible for u/18′s, has had a terrific season to date and has been cutting some of the competitions big gun forwards off at the knee’s. His speed and agility has caught many opponents off guard this year, underestimating his improvement from the 2012 season.  It is expected he will have 6 weeks to enable a fracture in his collarbone to heal, hopefully seeing him return to the field heading to pointy end of the season. Coach Ray Hayes will be counting the days to when he can slot Packard back at the crucial Centre Half Back position.
